Alexandrite

by

For the past two Wednesdays, rather than sat behind my computer at Collective I’ve been getting my trackies on (and several layers of clothing) and heading out to the everso impressive Edinburgh International Climbing Wall at Ratho with artist Tessa Lynch and a car full of enthusiastic participants.  These weekly workshops at EICA – part climbing practice, part visual workshop are the foundations for a large scale project and performance that will kick off Tessa Lynch’s exhibition at Collective in April, Alexandrite.

Collaborators on the project are 5 individuals through the collective audience and joining us last week, 5 experienced climbers.  It’s been a crash course in belaying, knot tieing and don’t look downing whilst Tessa introduces different ideas to the project questioning ways in which the climbing wall can be seen and used.  If you are keen to see how the project develops check out Tessa’s blogspot http://tessajanelynch.blogspot.com/ which Tessa will be using as a drop box for ideas and images.
